Re: First Corn Stick Pan

Congrats! I have the Wagner version. What I learned on a youtube video was preheat the pan, brush oil in, then add your batter. I had some sticking the first time and nearly none the second. Use...

Re: New Lodge Blacklock Line

Nice looking pans. I haven't had a chance to handle one in person yet. Here's a quick look at prices from Lodge and other high end skillets' websites they're competing with. I chose the 10 inch/#8...

Re: New Hoosier

Welcome Tom,
I keep my lye tank under the eaves of my house. I wouldn't recommend an enclosed space for the E tank. The process releases hydrogen so ventilation is important.

Re: Norpro?

Sounds like the info just isn't out there or easy to find at any rate. My search skills are pathetic but I spent some time at it with the same results. I'm guessing it's a play on Nordicware and...

Norpro?

I just want to know the origin of Norpro cast iron. I suspect Asian but haven't found any confirmation. Thanks for any help.

I'm thinking you could still bake in it.

Re: Gate Marked and Enameled ?

It's your pan. You can do what you want but I really hate the thought of an old gate marked pan getting turned into a clock.

Re: Gate Marked and Enameled ?

Why remove it? You already said you don't plan to eat out of it. Even damaged it's still a very old enameled pan and I would think more interesting that way than stripped.

Re: Cleaning CI with Wood Handles

You should be able to drive the pin out of the waffle iron paddles to remove the handles without too much trouble. Check to make sure the small ends aren't peened over first. I'm not an expert so...

Great looking cast iron. I love that Aebleskiver pan. The aebleskivers themselves look perfect!

Re: Deep Fish Fryer

Great finds! I would expect the lye bath to get rid of any remaining residue. I just cleaned up a couple nasty pieces. One smelled like an ash tray and the other I suspect might have had motor oil...

Re: Copco Skillet

If you just want a user, no. I would say it has little, if any, collector value but you can still cook in it.
I would hate looking at those chips every time I cooked in it which is odd for me...

Re: Flea Finds Today

You did great! If you've done business with the guy before it doesn't hurt to give a little more. It will most likely come back to you.

Re: Lye in my e-tank.

I'm done cleaning my cast iron.
Not a very scientific experiment I'll admit. I did learn a few things though.

Lye in the E-tank does work. The concentration used for stripping carbon makes...

Re: Lye in my e-tank.

I added a couple more gallons of water. That helped keep things under control some. As my pans got cleaner I had to have only one pan at a time using electrolysis. Right now most of the remaining...
