Re: Senior Day Smile....

The good thing with the carbon steel pans is that if it gets warped you can heat it up to seasoning temp the put a piece of 2x4 on the bottom and whack it with a hammer to straighten it. I absolutely...

Re: First Timer Here

The electrolysis tank is one option that you have but I think is more trouble than it's worth for 1 pan. You could spray it with Easy-Off oven cleaner and try that method if you have time. Or another...

Re: New to Buying Had Some Questions

Unless you're going to garage sales or flea markets you're pretty much limited to Etsy at this time based off of what you said. The thing with going to garage sales and flea markets is it's going to...

Re: A Little $5 Find!

Before I saw the photos of it cleaned up I thought it was an Erie pan. The reason I thought that was because of how straight up and down the side walls are the outside heat ring and the reinforced...

Re: New Member Wonders About This Skillet ?

Instead of chastising the individual for posting what he thought the cast iron piece might be perhaps we could educate him as to why certain characteristics are not correct and what the correct...

More oval roaster https://imgur.com/a/m5rYj

The skillet is a shallow skillet made by Griswold around the 20s to 40s I believe. It's pretty much a griddle with...

Nice Thin Walled Older Piece Unknown Foundry

Here is a piece I found and cleaned up a while ago. I don't know who made it but due to the H on the bottom of the handle and the skillet I'm thinking Wagner. What's your thoughts?

Re: Seasoning Over Old Seasoning

I've realized throughout the past year that I've been using cast iron there are millions of people who cook with it every single day and also there are millions of ways to clean and season a pan....

Re: Electrolysis Questions

If your sacrificial anodes are too dirty it will not put out the full amount of power that the charger is capable of. I always clean my anodes once the power output drops to 4 amps. Also, if my water...

Re: Gem Pan Seasoning Tips Needed

I alter my seasoning techniques on these types of pans. I warm them to the point I can still handle with my hands and apply the Crisco with my fingers. Uses more Crisco this way but the end result is...

Re: Silent Auction Purchase

The auction didn't label anything. They didn't know the simplest of things about cast iron skillets. But my wife was able to inspect it and there is slight rocking but no cracks or pitting. Where I...

Silent Auction Purchase

My wife found a silent auction at the Habitat ReStore. The large skillet is a Griswold number 14, a lot of what I found online says it was after Wagner purchased Griswold. Is that correct? We have an...
