Re: Griswold Questions
Ran across one in central IL about 6 or 7 yrs ago. Was a spinner so I left it behind. Probably shouldn't have; haven't seen one since.

Re: Electrolysis Tank - Newbie!
Your charger appears to be an automatic trickle charger/maintainer. Automatic chargers see the electrolysis circuit as a charged battery and shut themselves off. The charger used needs to be a manual...

Re: Electrolysis Tank - Newbie!
If the product you are speaking of is not 100% sodium carbonate, I would ditch it and replace with Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda which is. Since your make and model battery charger is unknown, what...

Re: Help Identifying This #9
Because they are typically seen well made and don't appear to be copies, these are normally IDed as early unmarked Wagner.

Re: Wagner 1059 Without “9”
Before catalog numbers, heat ring Wagners had the size number on the bottom and didn't need it on the handle. When the existing patterns were updated, the intent was likely to add size numbers to the...

Re: Can Not Identify an Old Skillet
The line across the bottom is called a gate mark, the gate being where molten iron entered the mold. "Bottom gated" pieces which also have the design characteristics such as the small hemispherical...

Re: Old Lodge Maybe?
This pan falls into the realm of what many assume (or hope) is a Blacklock, the predecessor of Lodge. The RB shows a substantially similar pan along with verbiage that might make one infer it is a...

Re: Erie Muffin Pan
The Griswold #10/948 popover pan was made for a very long time and went through several revisions (15) the "yellow book" calls variations (perhaps because the order of revisions isn't exactly known)....

Re: Help Identifying and Aging This Pan
Since Griswold did not use bottom gating during the period that they used this trademark (they never used bottom gating, actually) this is what's known as a recast. You can learn more about recasts...

Appears to be a line they called Staub "Elite". Can't say from when, but a point to start from.

Re: Griddle IDS
The longer piece in the photo is what's being called a sad iron heater. Regardless of what the shallow pan is being described as in the video, its intended use was as a sad iron heater. The deeper...

If the rust is only on the inside, large format pieces can become their own electrolysis tank. Fill with water and dissolve an appropriate amount of washing soda. Use a 2x4, a piece of PVC pipe or...

Re: Columbus Iron Works Grill
I've never seen a reference to these being plated. Plating of CI cookware literally doubled the price. Seems like an extravagance for a charcoal grill. Are you sure it's actually plating? Perhaps...

Re: Griswold #10 835 Dutch Oven
It appears in many cases that a no letter pattern existed along with those with a letter or letters. No letter just meant one more unique working pattern.
