Thanks for your insight Sharon, it is in remarkably good shape for its age for sure. It had a thin layer of rust from head to toe when I got it but there was no existing seasoning so I am guessing...

Also try the 13.25" lid that Lodge currently produces if you want a CI lid. I have a 1930's #12 large logo Griswold skillet and it fits. I am holding out though for a glass lid myself that will fit...

I use a standard, modern gas stove to do my cast iron cooking and I don't run into too many issues with hot spots in skillets using up to a #9 pan but when cooking for a crowd with my #12 1930's...
