Probably will never know too much about it, but thats the fun part......just think of the stories that Dutch Oven could tell! Its almost impossible to ID some very old CI.

They call them Economy Brands for a reason, such as this kind of flaw. I guess its still true today, you get what you pay for, ect.....I have an Oneta #8, its not my favorite skillet, but I collect...

Welcome to the Forums, youll find everything you need here. In my opinion, its a fairly rare skillet, being that its a #2.....value tho, im not sure, but it does look plated.

Mike.....it has a VERY thin heat ring, but 90% of it is smooth from years of use, Im assuming....man is it smooth, inside and out....and light!

Picked this up for 28 dollars yesterday....I went to a place with 400 vendors, and hardly any CI....but I got this, its very light.....wonder how old it is? Im not too up to date on Wagners.

From what Ive learned over the years, is cast iron that is exposed to water for a long time can cause pitting, or sulpher from a wood burner....not sure really but nice find!

welcome to the Forums....this is just my personal thought....I call it Gate Mark....im not really sure if it even matters....all I can say is your skillet is OLD, like 1800s probably.

Not sure about a food safe way to fix......but the JB Weld id try the mesh on the inside, and put the Weld on thick, then mold it before it cures.....then you can sand or grind it down....it should...
