Re: Today’s Picks

WI japanning would be limited to the base.
The cover is a RM "high type" (high dome, IOW).
1102 for the 80 double skillet bottom.

Re: Unmarked and Old Lodge

You'll need to be a little more patient, the forum shouldn't be thought of as real time answers on demand, and bumping threads is frowned upon. With time, you'll begin to be able to spot handle...

Re: Griswold #10 Small Logo

Personally, almost anything but flaxseed oil. Some have good experience with it; most do not, including me.

Re: Need Input on Lead Testing.

A youtube video happened to surface on my recommended list that shows 3M lead test sticks being used on an unseasoned pot suspected of lead contamination. It didn't appear any measures were taken...

Re: Tiny Hammered Skillet

I wouldn't expect these to have survived past the point of switching to automated molding, so probably the earlier half of that time frame.

Re: Wards Cast Aluminum

Spout tip looks awfully thin to be cast. The riveted handle attachments are also unusual. Are you sure it's not spun aluminum?

Might help to see if the pot looks like a Wagner.

Re: Unmarked and Old Lodge

Always need a shot of the entire bottom including handle when requesting ID help.

Re: Birmingham Stove and Range

I'd lean toward the Lodges, all things considered. The #9 is worth more than asking; the pitting appears minor and should fill in with use. As always, make sure not warped or cracked before purchase.

Re: Any Guesses???

Heat ring doesn't appear to have the "rolled" profile of a Favorite, unless it's a really old one. The shallowness suggests it might be an economy brand, like an older Victor, National, etc.

Re: Griswold #14 Bailed Handle Skillet

The 1932 catalog shows the #14 bailed skillet, but no cover. It is on a page that includes other specialty skillets with their covers.

Re: Cousances from a Thrift Store

None of the methods used for restoring bare cast iron apply to enamelware. To me, they don't look like they need much in the way of anything beyond a good washing in hot soapy water.

Re: Magnalite Cast Aluminum

Marking should have been in the pattern. Seeing a portion of a mark would make me think the pattern marking had been filled in for some reason, and what's visible is a ghost.

Re: Curious About Stamps On Taiwan CI

None of the markings would be stamped. Being incised rather than raised, they all would have had to have been in the pattern used to make the mold the pan was cast from. As such, they are likely just...

Re: Magnalite Cast Aluminum

It seems there are only two letters following Magnalite roaster p/ns, M and P. Doesn't seem to be any difference in the pans.

There has for quite some time now (years) been this re: restoring cast...

Re: Can anything be done about a Wobble?

Once warped, a pan can't be unwarped. If not excessive, oven and gas burner stovetop use are not really a problem. Sometimes an upward bow in a skillet can be annoying because cooking fats doesn't...

Re: Need Help Identifying Cast Iron Pan with Unique Handle and No Markings Except for

Flashing in holes of handles isn't all that uncommon, although one would think the size number would be a bit more defined. I would think if a recast it would have a second gate mark.

Re: #1 WagnerWare Oval Roaster

It probably won't affect the remaining nickel as you might anticipate. I'd just use vinegar and steel wool on the rust, then apply a minimal seasoning to inhibit rust reforming.

Re: Wagner Waffle Iron Handles

The catalogs don't really say anything about handle finish. The long ferruled handles are described as "flame-protecting". The 1924 catalog says irons are shipped with wood handles by default. The...

Re: #1 WagnerWare Oval Roaster

Great find. Yes, they are high value items. Easiest way to tell if something is aluminum is a magnet (that won't stick). I'd say yours is (worn) nickel plated iron.

Re: Wagner Waffle Iron Handles

My toy Wagner iron has black handles. The ones with the short ferrules always seem to be black. Then there are some with longer ferrules seen natural or stained, but hard to say if those are...
