Re: Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron, Griswold #11, Victor 723

MikeC, They were in the house of an old friend of a friend. I had a Griswold Hotel waffle iron at one time, but couldn't resist selling it, since I wasn't going to use it. I'll restore this one in...

Re: Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron, Griswold #11, Victor 723

No more cast iron here. That was the very last of it, lol.

Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron, Griswold #11, Victor 723

I picked up this little stack of cast iron yesterday, including a couple of nice pieces. The Wagner twin waffle iron is my first. I have had the Griswold hotel waffle iron though. My favorite piece...

Re: Electrolysis Tank - Newbie!

K_Leonard, check Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. There are often old, manual chargers for sale on there for reasonable prices.

Re: Biggest Haul Yet - Lots of Work Ahead

Nice haul. Sometimes it happens that way. In the front stack of skillets, it looks like the 2nd and 3rd from the bottom might be fancy handled, bottom gate marked??

Re: A Bit of Driving but Worth It

I come across my share of Iron Mountain in my area, but have never found a #14. Nice score.

Re: Lye Bath

For several years, I used nothing but electrolysis, since it cleans everything. The past 2 years I've started to use a lye tank first. It allows me to stack multiple pieces in the lye tank for...

Re: Unusual Cast Iron Frog

It's a boot jack. Anchored to the floor and you hook the heel of your boot in the antenna and pull your boot off. I've had several of these. Use one now as a door stop in my shed, lol.

Re: Some Pics from the Dinkys Auction This Weekend

That 3 lip #9 is amazing. Has to be one of the rarest pieces out there. Although I'm not a big fan of chrome or nickel plated pieces, that #2 is stunning. I see posts about this auction house all the...

Re: Bride's Choice....

I suspect that there was a bottom gatemark that has been eroded away by the sulfur pitting. I see these referred to as "initial" skillets. Unknown maker, if I'm remembering correctly. Nice, old...

Re: I'll Be Dog-Gone "Home"

Nice find. I have pretty much stopped even checking at my local Goodwill store. Never any cast iron. I think they put it all on their eBay store.

Re: Griswold #14 Cracked Wt Handle

That's the most common place to find cracks on a skillet. Cast iron is very brittle and my guess would be that these cracks are from being dropped on the handle at some point in it's life. I wouldn't...

HTF Griswold #12 New England Griddle

Unfortunately it is going to have some noticeable pitting on the bottom. 7s are a little harder to find, but plated pieces aren't usually as desirable. Have to see how it...
