It can still be used as a griddle. I don't think it's deep enough to use as a fish fryer - at least not for deep frying.

It's a sad iron heater made to fit the old wood stoves (or coal stoves). I made the mistake of buying one when I was new to collecting and I thought I had the "find of a lifetime".

I recently bought, at auction, 3 Le Creuset skillets (7 1/2" to 12" dia.) for $164 plus fees. I thought that was reasonable. They appear to be never used and in excellent shape. Beautiful yellow...

The best price that I've found for those is $89 if you order online from Walmart. I got free shipping and picked up at the store the next day.

I used to work in the auto manufacturing industry and was a die maker (not "dye" maker). Cast iron is used extensively to make dies. You can repair cast iron by drilling a hole through the piece...

You soak up the bacon grease with a paper towel?? Blasphemy!! I pour off the extra into a ceramic coffee mug and store in the fridge for those times when you need grease, but have none.
