Re: Gate Marked and Enameled ?

It's your pan. You can do what you want but I really hate the thought of an old gate marked pan getting turned into a clock.

Re: Gate Marked and Enameled ?

Why remove it? You already said you don't plan to eat out of it. Even damaged it's still a very old enameled pan and I would think more interesting that way than stripped.

Re: Cleaning CI with Wood Handles

You should be able to drive the pin out of the waffle iron paddles to remove the handles without too much trouble. Check to make sure the small ends aren't peened over first. I'm not an expert so...

Re: One Month Ago...

Great looking cast iron. I love that Aebleskiver pan. The aebleskivers themselves look perfect!

Re: Deep Fish Fryer

Great finds! I would expect the lye bath to get rid of any remaining residue. I just cleaned up a couple nasty pieces. One smelled like an ash tray and the other I suspect might have had motor oil...

Re: Hello - Found My Grandmother's Skillets

Welcome Tamra.
Your grandmother's skillets will be well worth the time you put in them to be able to use them.
There are some very knowledgeable folks here who can help with any questions you might...

Re: Copco Skillet

If you just want a user, no. I would say it has little, if any, collector value but you can still cook in it.
I would hate looking at those chips every time I cooked in it which is odd for me...

Re: Flea Finds Today

You did great! If you've done business with the guy before it doesn't hurt to give a little more. It will most likely come back to you.

Re: Lye in my e-tank.

I'm done cleaning my cast iron.
Not a very scientific experiment I'll admit. I did learn a few things though.

Lye in the E-tank does work. The concentration used for stripping carbon makes...

Re: Lye in my e-tank.

I added a couple more gallons of water. That helped keep things under control some. As my pans got cleaner I had to have only one pan at a time using electrolysis. Right now most of the remaining...

Re: Lye in my e-tank.

Thank you Doug D. I'll probably just leave it alone tonight. I'll most likely add some more water tomorrow. I would like to be able to clean more than 1 pan at a time if I can.
Right now it's...

Re: Lye in my e-tank.

I wasn't sure what it would do with the Lye alone. I didn't have a clue about what electrical reaction I would get from the lye as far as whether it would give the intended results or not-even after...

Re: Lye in my e-tank.

I decided to find out for myself.
I'm running about 6 gallons of water
1 lb of Lye
1/2 lb baking soda
Regulated 13.8 VDC power supply pulling around 2 amps.
It currently has 2 very rusty pans...

Re: Gate Marked 3 Footed #11 Skillet Find

I can't help with the question but I can say it's a great find and I wish thrift shops around here had those kinds of deals.

Wow! You did good! A lot of the folks here use an IMGUR account to host pictures. I use Flickr. Both are free. Hopefully someone else will chime in that knows more.
