Using others molds would make sense, seeing as it a Wapak.....must have been easier and cheaper to use them Im assuming. Thanks for the info!

I was just cleaning my skillets this morning, and something dawned on me. Has anyone ever seen a Wapak #3 with a heat ring? Mine and all the others I have ever seen are smooth bottom. Also....I think...

Probably will never know too much about it, but thats the fun part......just think of the stories that Dutch Oven could tell! Its almost impossible to ID some very old CI.

They call them Economy Brands for a reason, such as this kind of flaw. I guess its still true today, you get what you pay for, ect.....I have an Oneta #8, its not my favorite skillet, but I collect...

Someone ele on here mentioned the Ebay prices are really going up on some things.....Wapak Indian Head skillets are crazy high......glad I got my #10 while it was "cheap".

Welcome to the Forums, youll find everything you need here. In my opinion, its a fairly rare skillet, being that its a #2.....value tho, im not sure, but it does look plated.

Mike.....it has a VERY thin heat ring, but 90% of it is smooth from years of use, Im assuming....man is it smooth, inside and out....and light!

Picked this up for 28 dollars yesterday....I went to a place with 400 vendors, and hardly any CI....but I got this, its very light.....wonder how old it is? Im not too up to date on Wagners.

From what Ive learned over the years, is cast iron that is exposed to water for a long time can cause pitting, or sulpher from a wood burner....not sure really but nice find!

welcome to the Forums....this is just my personal thought....I call it Gate Mark....im not really sure if it even matters....all I can say is your skillet is OLD, like 1800s probably.

I dont think Lodge had a heat ring inset that far, but I could be wrong....my guess is its a SMS....southern mystery skillet.

As a Wapak guy, Im loving the #12....pretty hard to get huh? I have one, but its pitted , but in the process of filing them in with use........nice score tho!!!
