Re: Grooved Handle Griswold
The reason the blue book lists a No.10 grooved handle skillet is because I had included on in my skillet chart in the 1980s Cast Iron Cookware News I published. That is too long ago to remember all...

Re: Corning & Goewey
Bill, does your skillet rock on the bottom gate mark or do the small tit feet keep the pan level? I have the same pan and it rocks. A beautifully made and light skillet, yours is only the second I...

Re: Gem Pan...just asking for opinions..
I have had a number of those French Roll No.11 pans and never considered them to be Griswold. Yours looks to be marked No.12 but I think I would occasionally see them marked 12 instead of the more...

Re: The Ringer
I had and used a larger link version of the chain mail for a while to clean my iron but didn't care for it. The contact surface of the mail is not very great so it took longer than needed to hit all...

A No. 5 Scotch Bowl is the largest I have seen and have a No.1 Scotch Bowl, probably the smallest but, mostly, No.2 is the smallest.

Griswold's "Silverlike" finish
Hi Doug,
I was reading a page on your site where it says "Griswold's "Silverlike" was a matte, unpolished chrome finish. Wagner's "Silverlite" appears to have been the same."...

Re: Griswold #6 Tite-Top Dutch Oven
Maybe the pot was used to cook acidic foods like spaghetti sauce, etc. that caused some pitting. The whole pot and cover are, or were, in a state of strange coloring, paint?, and sanding? marks on...

Re: Griswold Puritan waffle iron
I don't know about those conflicting pattern numbers. They may be correct but the iron and base that you have are correct since you can see them yourself and they do agree with my list. Maybe the...

Re: Hi everyone
Most new collectors NEED the blue and red books. If you don't need them maybe you are not a full blown collector yet. But, really, they are nice to have and you will save the cost of the books by...

Re: 3 spout Griswold
Very rare. There are maybe three known now and at least one or two are cracked including the one posted yesterday. They are a wonderful curiosity. Lodge made a few three lipped skillets also.

Re: Trying to identify this skillet.
Old skillets are ageless; they go on cooking and pleasing the cook and cooking that which pleases out stomachs and eyes. I regularly use two Vose & Co. skillets made in Albany somewhere between 1848...

Re: Very interesting 2 piece skillet & grill
I can see cooking steaks in your skillet/grill. You could cook one side in the pan then flip over and grill the other side of the other way around. Read the patent carefully then go experiment. ...

Only info is that they are very nicely cast and I think come in your size and 5 and 5-1/2, maybe other sizes. I don't know the maker but whoever it was did a nice job. I've wondered if these are...

There are some 3 or 4 minor variations on that skillet with the small lips and handle of that general style. No id is really possible on them and I have a feeling that the variations may have been...

Your broiler is a modification and probably another version of the Morgan skillet as patented here-

Re: Favorite Utensils?
We had one of these c.1950s-60s Ecko stainless steel spatulas in the late 50s. Best spatula ever made I think and I found two of them some years ago and treat them with care (no dishwasher which I...

Re: Favorite Utensils?
I have always used an old metal spatula on my skillets with no problems. I don't use a knife to cut anything in the pan. The spatula seems to smooth out the surface if anything.

Welcome, gathering information is a lot easier (sometimes) but always much lighter than gathering iron cookware. Good luck.

Re: Need Help Waffle Iron
c.1860s as my guess. The 8 9 are size markings to denote that the waffle iron is made for both a No. 8 and a NO. 9 stove.

Looks mid 30s and into the 40s maybe. Would have had a smooth high dome cover or the same the the TM on top of the cover.
