Re: So, This Happened...

No evidence of a ghost mark on either of these. We do see ghosting on the inset heat ring skillets put out by Smart post 1893 - after they bought out the cast iron side of C&C. Findlay bought the...

So, This Happened...

Favorite C&C (Chown and Cunningham) compared to a Favorite Piqua Ware. Both identical skillets, same sizes, same outer ring, same font of the 9 - note the 2 lines under the handle of the Piqua...

Re: Cast Iron Pan Identification Help

In the wee 1900's, there were some 300 active stove foundries in Canada. Heck knows how many of them made hollow ware - and that's not including the history back to the mid 1700s...

Re: Cast Iron Pan Identification Help

Quite a few of these have shown up in Canada - sizes 8 and 9. None in the US so far. The dots around the number never seem to be in the same place. All have the same style. To date, unknown...

Re: Favorite Piqua Ware dating

Compare the fonts on some of the old "The Favorite" to Favorite Piqua Ware, some interesting similarities. "The Favorite" is also mentioned in a Findlay catalog from Canada - that's even more...

The collecting community in Canada is slowly growing, and research is being done - lots of information is out there already. Post up anything you have, I'm really hoping to see some new pieces. So...

Re: Favorite Piqua Ware dating

Or perhaps jobbing some of it out?

Upwards of 90% of hollow ware manufactured in the USA back in the day was made in US prisons - and I find it interesting that Piqua is only 80 miles from the...

Re: Favorite Piqua Ware dating

Re: Favorite Piqua Ware dating

They produced hollow ware for more than 20 years, found an article from 1910 on Favorite Stove and Range Piqua that stated production of hollow ware. Then there's the old waffle irons. I think it's...

Re: How collectible is a T. EATON nickel plated skillet

Not alot of interest in Canada over old iron just yet, but you'd never know it from the pricing. Some seem to want to retire on a couple of pieces.

There's more Eaton iron kicking around than...

Re: EATON ' Housewares nickel plated #8

Court is still out on who made them. Not 1800's, and definitely not that rare.

McClary for sure was one of the makers, have a skillet here marked X108. Smart may have been, or Findlay or other....

Zoomed in from the picture on your site... Hard to zoom in I know but... This isn't a diamond 3? Definitely not a diamond G.
