Re: Unmarked Skillet Identification Help

Yes -very similar. And I agree with the assessment in that thread - definitely not like any Vollrath handle I have or have seen.

Unmarked Skillet Identification Help

Another skillet from the lot I bought. I've looked at the unmarked section and don't see a match. No marks anywhere, no size, outside heat ring. Looks to be a No. 8 by eyeballing size. Looks...

Re: Early Single Notch Lodge

The bottom texture and size marking are identical. No Signs of a Arc logo on mine though, and it appears yours doesn't have a maker's mark. Interesting...

Re: Early Single Notch Lodge

I had reviewed that and the pic in that section threw me and led me to believe it was possibly something earlier. After re-reading it more carefully after your comment, you may be right.

Early Single Notch Lodge

I think this is an early single notch Lodge. I got it in a large lot I bought last fall that I have been slowly sorting through and restoring. Have not touched this one.

I'll avoid the term...

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Has anyone ever tried cleaning their cast iron in a clean (new or fresh) ultrasonic cleaner? I have been mulling it over, and a couple of Google searches have not yielded a lot other than cast iron...

Hammered Lid Finish?

I picked up a hammered #8 lid. All signs are that it is a Wagner - it has the characteristic small scalloping under the lid. What is puzzling is that it appears to have a finish on it - it is...

Re: Cleaning ?

I had some luck getting it off with a nylon drill brush. After removing some, I am convinced it was a large buildup of starch - possibly potato in layers almost like oil based seasoning. ...

Cleaning ?

I have a Favorite Piqua DO I found at a junk shop. The crud on the inside has been very difficult to remove. I have run it for 96 hours (2 48 hour runs) in my etank. Outside black crud slipped...

Re: Victor

It was probably middle of the road as far as cleanups go. 48 hours in e-tank and it was in pretty good shape. We knew it was a Victor before restoration.

Victor

Mother In Law found this at an antique store. Got it all cleaned up for her. Unfortunately has some wobble, but is still a neat piece.

Gate Marked ID

I recently bought a large collection of cast iron. I have been working through it starting with the least rare/interesting first. I started looking at the attached pan. It is a gate marked 8. ...

Re: Wagner Griddle

Great information. This one is slated for a gift and I think the receiver would appreciate knowing some of the history.

Re: Wagner Griddle

I had the same thought, but if it was that late, shouldn't there be text that says "Made in the USA" - similar to unmarked Wagner skillet stuff?

Wagner Griddle

Picked this 17" griddle up the other day. I have never seen this style of Wagner logo without the "Sidney" Is this a real piece or a recast/knockoff? Quality does not seem poor like some...

Re: Saw This at an Antique Store This Weekend

They wanted $69 for it. However, I am in MT, and decent cast here is relatively scarce - it brings prices that most in the country would balk at. There were no marks on the bottom - unfortunately...

Saw This at an Antique Store This Weekend

It was a somewhat deep #12 skillet. Only markings were ones in pic. Looked like older stuff - cast iron was not 100% consistent. Thought it over and decided to pass, but not sure if that was a...

Re: Some Off Brand/No Name Cast Iron

Next up is a #8 skillet. Marking on back says "10 1/2" skillet Made in USA." It has a flat head screw under the handle near the connection to the skillet. My first thought was a post 1964...

Some Off Brand/No Name Cast Iron

I have come across a couple of items a little off the beaten Wagner/Griswold path lately.

First one is a #9 round griddle. Looks to have a gate mark across the bottom. I can't tell if it...

Re: Advice Requested

An update on this project. I re-established all of my connections and reset the piece in my e-tank. I was able to achieve a little better amperage this time. Bottom line is that some of what we...
