Re: What Is Your Ugliest Pan?

This first pan I ever bought is a #8 Griswald.
After cleaning I found it had a crack on the side wall.
After 5 years of every day use be my Wife or myself it looks and cooks great :-)

I use a 30 gallon blue barrel with the top cut off and flipped over for a cover.
All the blue barrels are HDPE and will not be effected by the lye.
Most times you can pick...

Re: Electrolysis Tank Repair.

For small pans a 5 gallon bucket will work.
The handle may stick out of the water but it's nice to deal with a smaller pail that you can move around.
For bigger items you might look for a 30 gallon...

Re: Eater's Complaints

My Wife will say something if the pan has not been seasoned enough.
How I tell if the pan is well seasoned is to fry a egg ans see if the bottom has picked up any black.

She uses only Cast Iron...

Re: Griswold Cornstick 283/931

I picked up the Senior Wagner in FL just before everything shut down.
I gave $25 for it and passed on a Unmarked one.

I use it a lot because it used a whole box of Famous Dave's.

Re: Electrolysis - Anode Bubbling?

I would try another charger to start.
These chargers don't cost very much to build and are not what you would call Heavy Duty.

I have a real DC power supply and most of the cheaper chargers just...

Re: Erie 2nd Series #9 Star Makers Mark Restoration

That pan has been around for a long time and is real tough, it would take a lot to mess it up.

Put the pan in the black bag in the garage, up high.
It will take a little longer but it will get...

Re: Griswold Turks Head Pans #140 and #240

I have a newer one, Lodge I think and it was a real pain to clean.
It was rust covered and only cost $3 but I do not know if I would ever buy another if it had rust.

Re: Is This Kettle/cauldron Too Far Gone, or Can It Be Restored? Is It Even Worth It?

Offer them $50, I do not think many people would be able to do anything with it. Limited number of buyers.

Re: Chainmail Scrubbing Pad

The Lodge plastic scrapers seem to work the best for me to remove most/all left in the pan.
After that a dishcloth to clean the rest.

Re: Indoor Lye Tank?

If you have a Exhaust fan just turn it on once in a while.
You have a lid so that will keep it safe from Pets.
