Since the rust is minimal, I would opt instead for a 50/50 vinegar/water bath, in a wide, shallow container that you can float the lid in. No risk to the enamel that way.

Looks like pressed/stamped steel. Absent rivets, I'd say the handle was part of the blank and then bent to form in a post process.

Lid handle seems like an older style than would be expected on a Lodge of that vintage. Nevertheless, it appears to fit well. Quite the bargain.

Crisco is the old tried-and-true. Flax seed is known to have adhesion problems. Unknown if mixing it with bacon grease has any pluses or minuses.

Never thought about it. Perhaps do an eBay or a Google image search for "Wapak cast iron" and see how many different pieces with that style logo come up.

It's ordinarily not, for a variety of situations and reasons. 120 year old Erie skillet? No way. Easily replaceable, relatively modern Lodge with dog pee and mold? Preferable to throwing it in a fire...

The hardest part will be having to use more than one method to deal with more than one issue. Bleaching first will kill the mold and canine artifacts. It can be scrubbed and rinsed thoroughly...
