Cast Aluminum Cleaning

I posted a few pics yesterday on the Show and Tell board but thought it was worth showing the steps I use in pictures in case anyone wants to try for themselves. Here are 7 pics of the before cleaning and during the cleaning process and the final pic of the end result. I was using a Wagner Ware Magnilite p/n 4683P (3 quart sauce pan) which took me about 5 hours from start to finish. This is not a 30 minute process so prepare yourself for some time to be spent cleaning. The bigger the pan the longer it will take. Since this pan wasn't quite as bad as some I've done I bypassed a few of the steps as prescribed here in CIC restoration section.
I basically used three steps 1) Cleaned with 0000 Steel wool and Bar Keepers Friend. 2) Sanded w/ wet/dry sand paper 1000 & 2000 grit. 3) Polished with Autosol Metal Polish 2 times and buffed with soft cotton cloth.
Thanks for reading and hope some of you try your hand at restoring some of these old cast aluminum pieces. Pleasing to see how new they look when finished.
