#10 griddle with gate mark and "upside down" handle ID
 

I just returned from the flea market where I picked up an unmarked round 10" (located at the base of the handle on the back) griddle with a gate mark and heat ring in v good condition. It has a weird handle - it almost looks like it was put on upside down. There is a groove that runs through it on the top and it's solid on the bottom side. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Can you ID it? Thanks

The handle design is common for its era. Skillets often have the size number raised in bas relief in the well. The stock answers on pieces like it are we can estimate when (mid to late 1800s), and sometimes whereabouts, but, without unique markings, not by whom.

Thank you. Funny, I've seen cast iron my whole life, but never have really looked at it closely enough to notice all these details.
