Interesting Turk's Head Pan

https://i.postimg.cc/x1LxXdfZ/20200829-135757zz.jpg I picked up this Turk's Head pan with some other stuff, didn't give much for it. I think it is interesting because of all the artifacts in the casting. The top photo is the "top" side, look at the big round butter mark near the middle. The bottom photo shows the back, look at the round sprue marks, different from the usual flat shaped gate marks. There is also a lot of buttering on the backs of the cups in the fluting, it doesn't show up well here unfortunately. Maybe this is a re-cast? Or something from "Bob's Foundry and Feed Emporium"? I haven't started cleaning it up yet, have it waiting its turn. |

The rough spots on the back aren't rust or pitting, they are places where sand is embedded in the surface. And in the last photo you can really see where they muddled the backs of the cups. Quite a lot going on in this casting. |
Re: Interesting Turk's Head Pan
Now its time to use it.....I kinda like defects on CI, as long as its not BAD.....probably why I love Wapaks.
